Abstract<br />
<br />
This paper examines how historiography has been changed in the age of the new media. The technological advancement of mass media has<br />
influenced the way how ordinary people participate in historiography. Thanks to the new media technologies, the democratization of<br />
historiography has ever been possible as with popular practices of cultural production. The gunshot rampage in Virginia polytechnic<br />
Institute on April 16, 2007 was an important event for examining the potential of popular historiography through individuals&amp;#39; participation in media production. This paper sheds critical light on the April 16<br />
Archive that is created for preserving the past as &quot;digital memory banks&quot; for an emerging potential of popular historiography. In<br />
conclusion, this paper recommends critical pedagogic interventions to promote individuals&amp;#39; counter-hegemonic deployment of the new media technologies in the cultural politics of historiography.<br />
